Eurorack News for May 25th 2024

The After Later Audio Bartender is an advanced stereo performance mixer equipped for the Eurorack modular synthesis environment. With four stereo channels that can function in mono mode to offer an eight-channel mono mix, the mixer displays notable versatility. This is complemented by pan controls for precise crossfade management and a mono output delivering fine-tuned mono mixes.

Integrated into the Bartender are CV inputs for each channel, facilitating level control and panning. Also included are two send buses, enabling each channel to be directed to either of the two. A unique, built-in cueing system allows for monitoring individual channels via headphones and tweaking the mix with the primary output.

The device is designed to ascertain minimum click-noise, incorporating a mute function that employs a capacitor to moderate the mute action. It also features a mains section with two stereo sends outputs, two stereo returns, and main stereo outputs governed by a level slider and stereo VU Meter. Furthermore, a 1/4″ headphone jack in the cue section provides dedicated level control and a fader function to switch between the main mix, cue mix, or an adjustable mixture of both.

The After Later Audio Bartender stands out in its expandability, capable of being cascaded with additional units to offer an 8ch, 12ch, or 16ch mixer. This is augmented by the possibility of interconnecting it with other modules, such as DVCA, Cast Iron, Mingles, and USB-2CH, using Dupont cables through the pin headers at the modules’ back. This interconnectivity results in a highly integrated audio production system that supports seamless blending of sounds.

The Velectronic-A Envelope, Mosaic Random Black Panel, Xaoc Devices Ostankino II, and Der Mann Mit Der Maschine Droid X7 Expander are integral modules to create dynamic modulation and sequencing. The Velectronic-A Envelope provides an advanced ADSR envelope controller enabling intricate modulation options. The Mosaic Random Black Panel comes with three types of random signal abilities – Gate, Smooth, and Stepped signals – for adding randomness to your patches. The Xaoc Devices Ostankino II extends the Moskwa II sequencer’s connectivity for more dynamic sequencing. Lastly, the Der Mann Mit Der Maschine Droid X7 Expander allows MIDI and USB connectivity for additional performance options. The union of these modules allows users to sculpt changing envelopes, control randomness, enhance sequencing, and expand MIDI connectivity in a Eurorack setup.

The Doepfer A-160-2 is a Eurorack synthetic clock/trigger divider module used for rhythm generation. The device takes in digital signals from an array of sources like an LFO, MIDI sync, or a MIDI-CV interface, and outputs sub-divided clock signals that scale down from half the clock frequency to 1/128, aiding in creating a diverse range of rhythmic components. It can adapt to different modular conditions with adjustable signal levels from 0V to approximately +10V.

Another feature includes a reset input that allows shifts in rhythm and tonality by adjusting output levels relative to the current mode. This enables unexpected breaks or variations in sequences, adding excitement and dynamism. Moreover, the device allows further exploration of advanced rhythm generation techniques by combining it with other modules and utilizing different clock divisions.

In an expert-level application, the A-160-2 can be used creatively for generating intricate polyrhythms. By processing a fast and complex LFO signal through the A-160-2, and using the reset input in sync with external events, it is possible to create evolving rhythmic patterns that add depth and complexity to the music.
