Max4Live News for July 29th 2024

The XY-Node Mixer is a Max4Live device for Ableton Live, developed by Metamagicum. This audio effect tool functions as a macro controller, featuring four nodes within a two-dimensional space. The software calculates the distance of four different sound sources and modifies their sonic parameters based on their positions, allowing the user to blend these audio sources in a unique way. This dynamic control can be utilized to create complex sound textures, ambient pads, or intricate drum patterns. The device features a simple and intuitive interface with colorful visual feedback. Touch-screen support and game controller compatibility have been integrated to allow real-time manual control of node positions, bringing a physical element to the audio manipulation process. For easier utility, producers have the option to modulate the XY coordinates of one node with a random LFO, which makes managing the other nodes less overwhelming. The position and size of each node can also be manually adjusted for more precise sound control.
