The ST Modular KRAKONG is a duophonic generative synthesizer module designed for Eurorack systems. Utilizing a triangle wave and a square wave oscillator for each of its dual voices, it’s notable for its versatile signal routing and manipulation capabilities. This module, which requires at least an 80HP (3U) standard Eurorack case, also features shift register sequencers, CV OSC FM cross-modulation, and CV filter-based gates for each voice.
Additional key functionalities include a multimode filter with a built-in VCA, a ring-modulated output, an LFO that can be reset, a buffered multiple, and a random modulation sequencer. The internal clock generator enables the sequencers’ tempo to be controlled internally or synced externally with any audio or CV voltage.
Its built-in shift register sequencers have a dedicated control scheme which allows the user to adjust the pitch range of CV OUT and the length of the sequence, and to switch the order of the sequences between looping or random. The module also has an OSC FM feature, allowing frequency modulation between oscillators, contributing to a broad range of dynamic, textured sounds.
For operation, the module has significant manual controls. The FREQ control allows for manual tuning of the oscillator frequencies, while DECAY control optimizes envelope decay length. GATE controls allow manipulation of offset, force, and cutoff parameters. Lastly, the KRAKONG module can be powered with a standard Eurorack PSU or the specific ST Modular PSU PCB.
