Eurorack News for April 16th 2024

The Passive Operator Drum Synthesizer, developed on the Tropical Noise platform, is a distinctive Eurorack module that operates exclusively on triggers, gates, and Control Voltage (CV) signals, eliminating the need for an external power source. The device features dual input compartments for CV, gate, trigger, and audio signals, providing precise modulation control for creative sonic experiments. It includes a mix compartment, acting as the center of signal mapping and allowing for various mixtures of triggers and CV signals to achieve unique rhythm and tonal variations. The Passive Operator also includes a patch matrix, offering multiple trigger and CV outputs for varied patching configurations and the ability to control tonal features. Electronica compartments that can be replaced as needed add further customization, while an included touchpad provides an alternative control method for expressive performance.

The Leaves module is an extender for the Tree and other Turing Machine hosts, adding versatile voltage sequencing capabilities. It offers four distinct outputs, each corresponding to a range of sliders, and includes a dedicated transpose input, providing a lot of flexibility for sequencing. The Reverse Landfill Blur is an analog video filter module that introduces blur and softening trail effects. It has multiple controls for adjusting the degree of blur and the balance between the dry and wet signals. The Berlin School, on the other hand, is a flexible 8-step analogue sequencer incorporating classic CD4017 base with modern features such as onboard clock divisions, quantized output, and a variety of step sequencing options. The AJH Synth MiniMod Muting Mixer & VCA brings 5-channel audio mixing with mute switches, an integrated VCA with selectable linear/exponential response, and a soft overdrive circuit for sound shaping. Lastly, the Ritual Electronics Altar II is a voltage-controlled 3-pole, 18dB/octave state-variable discrete filter that offers a smooth transition between different filter modes, adding to the richness of the sounds you can create.
